Dr. G. Lynn Lashbrook, President of SMWW, has been a certified agent with the NFL for over 15 years. Dr. Lashbrook worked with SMG or SFX (now CAA) for five years and signed 20 NFL players, including first round and second round draft picks Mark Fields and Brian Dawkins. Dr. Lashbrook has also been working and teaching in Sports Management for over 35 years at the collegiate level and has served as athletic director at three major universities. He has served as head of the athletic academic advisors association for the NCAA.
Dr. Lashbrook worked side by side with Jim Steiner, President of SFX (now CAA) for five years before starting SMWW. With his assistance the company experienced enormous growth. Players with the company at that time included: Jerry Rice, Elvis Grbac, Trent Green, Mike Alstott, Randall Cunningham and many more. Lynn was the most successful recruiter in the agency the first three years he was there, and he represented many of the company’s top athletes. During this time he served as an advisor to many endorsement deals including Jerry Rice on the Wheaties Box, the launch of Breath Right with Jerry Rice, William “Fridgerator” Perry with McDonalds, as well as all shoe contracts with Nike, Adidas and Reebok.
With many clients and much success in the business, Dr. Lashbrook realized athletes needed and deserved more personal service, more attention after the playing contract was signed and a more comprehensive look at a career after football, hence he walked away and Sports Management Worldwide was born.SMWW is proud to now represent via the Agent Advisor system many great athletes. Two exciting examples are:
Matt Moore, Carolina Panthers Quarterback - When Matt signed with SMWW, his Agent Advisor and Dr. Lynn Lashbrook advised Matt honestly that he might not be drafted, but that SMWW would do everything they could to promote him. Matt was not invited to the combine, nor was he drafted. SMWW quickly negotiated an opportunity with the Dallas Cowboys. Upon being cut, he was picked up by the Carolina Panthers. By the end of his rookie year he started as QB the last three games, and he also had a fine 2009 Season.
Akeem Jordan, Philadelphia Eagles Linebacker – Akeem was not invited to the combine, nor was he drafted. His Agent Advisor and Dr. Lynn Lashbrook assisted with getting him into the Eagles camp. Akeem made the practice squad. Halfway through the season the Eagles called and the negotiations began. By the end of the season, rookie Akeem Jordan was starting for the Eagles. The saying goes that you can’t "agent your way into the NFL." This is true. Ultimately your playing ability will determine your career.
As a professional athlete you need an agent who will be honest with you and who can guide you in the right direction. You need an agent who won’t give up when the going gets tough and you need an agent who can maximize success, not be the downfall. You need an experienced agent and you need individualized service to make the most of all the opportunities. SMWW provides it all.
